Deciding the future..... Imagine being able to visit ten, twenty, fifty, even hundreds of colleges before making your decision on which is right for you. This may not have been a feasible option for most of us but the technology generation will have this and other advantages. Not only are students able to use videoconferencing as an aid to find the right school, employment can be found using video. Most companies now have videoconferencing equipment in their conference rooms, Human resources, and even executives on their desks. Under this scenario interviews can be held, better reading and feeling regarding a possible employment with the company. This can be especially useful in situations where a student is away for school and will be relocating and distance is an issue. Videoconferencing also makes time available in everyone's schedules, for instance have you ever gone on an interview and showed up only to find out it's been canceled because someone was pulled away for a meeting or appointment. Now just think if you'd traveled a few hours for that meeting, videoconferencing can be a very valuable tool ! Now let's learn! In addition to the above applications, learning is still far and foremost use of video. State University's are using video to share resources thoughout their institutions to pool the most from their existing educational resources. The " pooling " of resources equates to more options for students, lower costs to the schools, and hopefully a savings to students in tuition's... As new technologies emerge we will find new resources that will not only expand the we teach but will expand the ways we learn.
