Repairs of equipment are a necessity for all companies. Conferencing
equipment can be quite expensive especially when large room designs or
MCU's are in place. Service contracts can help make a bad situation better
as needed labor and or parts that are covered don't become a headache.
Under Manufacturers Warrantee, really means for a
period of time ( 90 days, 1 year etc. ) manufacturer will replace unit if
broken due to a defect. This means as long as you didn't break the unit
you'll be covered. Also be aware that you are essentially at the mercy of
the manufacturer as to when the item gets repaired and returned, it can be
a few days to weeks for replacement .
On-Site Repairs, is the easiest way to get
things working with limited input from the user. Most on-site repairs
consist of a tech dealing with a site contact to isolate a problem, then
the technician brings the needed parts with them for the install. Although
many times the tech cannot fix the items on-site and has to remove the
piece and fix at their labs or return again with additional pieces.
Off-Site Repairs, are usually the most cost
effective option. Under this option, equipment is sent to there supplier
and then repaired in a timely manor. This saves on-site time and results
in lower rates, but remember you the customer must do a portion of the
work.
Parts Only, can be useful for a person that
is handy. You may pay a higher premium for the parts in this manor, but
can eliminate the labor and it's cost.
